MINUTES OF MEETING
Carlucci’s Waterfront

President Bill Haggerty called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. There were 25 members and guests present. .
GUEST SPEAKER
President Haggerty announced that we would first hear from our guest speaker, Sondra Cappuccio, Director of Integrated Communications, Lippincott & Jacobs Consulting Engineers. Ms. Cappuccio’s talk was titled-Client Relations. She spoke extensively about building trust, and improving our image with the public. She spoke about likability, honesty, and building a good reputation. It is important to participate in civic associations and professional associations, such as SAWJ. After about 30 minutes of Sondra’s presentation, we took a recess for the dinner
After the dinner break, Sondra continued with a discussion about how to educate and build relationships with clients. She suggested we build friendships with our clients. Become a resource of information and referrals so that your client feels comfortable in talking with you about all kinds of needs. She also talked about the need to have a good web-site, using your own project photographs. She closed this second session after about 30 minutes, with questions from the group. President Bill thanked Sondra for a wonderful presentation.
MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING
President Bill announced that the Minutes for the last meeting held on May 15, 2009, had been posted to SAWJ.org website and he asked if there were any corrections or additions. No corrections were offered so the minutes were moved, seconded, and approved as distributed.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Pete Burgess, Treasurer, was absent from tonight’s meeting.
NJSPLS BUSINESS
Lou Marchuk reported NJSPLS did not meet this month. He will have a report next month.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
Bob Lee, Scholarship Committee Chair, reported that they have made a selection. Bob introduced Robert Telschow, Jr., who is currently employed with Taylor, Wiseman and Taylor. The presentation will be made at our next meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2009.
OLD BUSINESS
President Bill reported that SAWJ has been authorized to directly file for education credits with the State Board. Certificates were e-mailed to all attending last month’s presentation by Richard Castagna. Bill also handed out certificates, suitable for framing, to attendees tonight.
NEW BUSINESS
Lou Marchuk won tonight’s 50-50 drawing. He contributed his winnings to the Duck Fund.
Bill announced that our next meeting will be on Thursday, July 9, 2009, 7PM at Carlucci’s Waterfront.
At 9 PM. It was moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded, and approved by voice vote.
