MINUTES OF MEETING
Carlucci’s Waterfront
876 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

President Rick Sapio called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 19 members plus 1 guest speaker were present. Rick introduced our guest speaker, Bill Beardslee, LS, of Beardslee Associates, with offices in Sparta, NJ.

GUEST SPEAKER
Bill Beardslee was our guest speaker and he spoke about developing better communication skills. He told us that Surveyors are not the best communicators. He spoke about a book, by Marshall Goldsmith, entitled “What Got You Here, Won’t Get You There.” He encouraged surveyors to improve their communications with the following four steps.
1. Be on time
2. Be on budget.
3. Be clear.
4. Be precise
He encouraged us to always have written agreements and especially to put it in writing when a change of scope was needed. He closed at 8 PM with questions from the membership.

President Rick thanked him for an interesting and informative presentation.

BUSINESS MEETING
President Rick convened the Association for the regular business transactions.

MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING
President Rick announced that there are no Minutes from the last meeting, held on April 14, 2011.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT- NJSPLS
Chip Adamson submitted a preliminary written report which will be replaced later by the official NJSPLS meeting minutes. He spoke to the report and the meeting he attended.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Chip Adamson won the door prize drawing and contributed his winnings to the Scholarship Fund.

President Rick said that our next meeting will be on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Carlucci’s.

At 8:50 PM. it was moved to adjourn the meeting; seconded, and approved by voice vote.
