MINUTES OF MEETING
Carlucci’s Waterfront
876 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

President Rick Sapio called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 23 members and 1 guest speaker were present. Rick went around the assembly and requested each person to provide a self introduction.

GUEST SPEAKER

President Rick introduced our guest speaker, Curtis Sumner, PLS, American Congress on Surveying and Mapping. Mr. Sumner spoke in great detail about the 2011 MINIMUM STANDARD DETAIL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALTA/ACSM LAND TITLE SURVEYS as adopted by the American Land Title Association and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (a member organization of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping).

He spoke extensively about the FINAL DRAFT (Version 09/2910). A copy of this 6 page FINAL DRAFT was given to all attending. Curtis went through this document pointing out the many changes which were suggested by the committee. He pointed out that this was a FINAL DRAFT and while he was confident that this was going to be accepted, the process was not yet complete.

Mr. Sumner spoke for two hours and then had time for a few questions from the audience. President Rick Sapio thanked him for an interesting and educational presentation.

BUSINESS MEETING
President Rick then convened the Association for the regular business transactions.

MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING
President Rick announced that the Minutes for the last meeting held on September 9, 2010 have been posted on the web site for examination. There were no additions or corrections from the membership. It was then moved, seconded, and approved by voice-vote.

Pete Burgess, Treasurer, provided the following written report.

OLD BUSINESS
None tonight.

NEW BUSINESS
Bob Lee announced that Avi Luzon has agreed to be a presenter for the Trig-star Program. More information about this “student-oriented-program” will be provided later.

There was a discussion that we should do more to help surveyors who are finding the times to be tough. Several suggestions were offered, including: reduced dues; also free continuing education courses at the NJSPLS Convention. This topic needs some creative thinking. More discussion will be held at our next meeting.

President Rick announced that the Nominating Committee is actively working on the Officers for next year. He said we need you to say yes when the committee asks you to help out.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Rick Sapio won the drawing and contributed his winnings to the Duck Fund.
President Rick said that our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Carlucci’s.
At 9:30 PM. it was moved to adjourn the meeting; seconded, and approved by voice vote.
