MINUTES OF MEETING

President Rick Sapio called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 25 members and 1 guest speaker were present. Rick went around the assembly and requested each person to provide a self introduction,

GUEST SPEAKER
President Rick introduced our guest speaker, David Doyle of the National Geodetic Survey.

He spoke extensively about the work of the National Geodetic Survey and especially about the recent changes which enhance the system and its accuracy. He addressed the National Spatial Reference System as outlined in their 10 year plan. These include: Enhancements to the On Line Positioning User Service (OPUS), Gravity for the Redefinition of the American Vertical Datum (GRAV-D) and adoption of new horizontal (geometric) and vertical (geopotential) datum for the United States targeted to be completed by 2020.

Mr. Doyle used a projector and screen to explain this complex historical development by the National Geodetic Survey. After a 2 hour presentation he took questions from a very interested audience.

President Rick Sapio thanked David Doyle for this outstanding presentation.

BUSINESS MEETING
President Rick then convened the Association for the regular business transactions.

MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING
President Rick announced that the Minutes for the last meeting held on August 11, 2010 have been posted on the web site for examination. There were no additions or corrections from the membership. It was then moved, seconded, and approved by voice-vote.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Pete Burgess, Treasurer, was absent, therefore no report was available. President Rick said that he would contact Pete and post the Treasurers Report as an appendix to these minutes.

NJSPLS DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Lou Marchuk reported that NJSPLS did not meet this month. When any written information from NJSPLS is available, Lou will place it on our web-site for all members to review.

OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS
None.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bob Lee won the drawing and contributed his winnings to the Scholarship Fund.
President Rick said that our next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Carlucci’s.
At 9:30 PM. it was moved to adjourn the meeting; seconded, and approved by voice vote.
