SAWJ June Meeting Minutes

SURVEYORS’ ASSOCIATION OF
WEST JERSEY
JUNE 9, 2010
MINUTES OF MEETING
Carlucci’s Waterfront
876 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

President Rick Sapio called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM. 10 members and 1 guest were present.

GUEST SPEAKER
President Rick introduced our guest speaker, Anthony Rimikis, CCIM, Senior Vice President for Urban Development at Brandywine Realty Trust. He is responsible for the company’s downtown Philadelphia development and construction activities.

In a very interesting talk Anthony told us in great detail about his most recent project at the former 30th Street Post Office. It is being renovated at a cost of $200 Million for the Philadelphia Internal Revenue Services use. He spoke extensively about the history of this landmark building that was originally constructed in 1935 and was the world’s first “Air-Gyro-Facility”. He addressed the complexity of the site with the street located 30 ft. above the grade.

He spoke about the overall new development which will include: the Cira Parking Garage, a Hotel, restaurants, and several retail stores. Because the market is currently poor, some of this development may stretch out for several years.

He closed with many questions from the audience and with thanks from President Sapio for a very interesting talk.
