MINUTES OF MEETING
Carlucci’s Waterfront

President Bill Haggerty called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. There were 21 members and guests present.
GUEST SPEAKERS
President Bill introduced our guest speakers, William Easterbrook Jr. PLS and Jason Larson, PLS, from, Naik Consulting Group, who spoke on, “The Fundamentals of Laser Scanning”. They said that this technology has been improving rapidly in the last 5 years and is now a viable method for many complex applications. They explained how it can shorten field time by scanning thousands of points per second. It can efficiently deal with complex surfaces as well as being a remote data collector. They showed and discussed visual slides of a variety of recent projects that they have completed.
They spoke about the cost of investment in training and equipment to perform these “3D Scanned Projects”. At the end of their presentation they answered many questions from the membership about this relatively new technology.
.At 8:40 PM, President Bill thanked our speakers for a very educational and interesting presentation. He then returned the meeting to our association business items.
MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING
Bill announced that the Minutes for the last meeting held on July 9, 2009, had been distributed to the membership via the web-site and he asked if there were any corrections or additions. No corrections were offered so the minutes were moved, seconded, and approved as posted on the web-site.

The Treasurer’s report was moved, seconded, and accepted.
NJSPLS DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Lou Marchuk reported that he recently attended a FEMA educational presentation on “Floodplain Management”. Lou suggested that FEMA may be agreeable to making a similar 3 hour,PDH presentation to SAWJ. Lou understands that FEMA does the presentation gratis, so we could charge a reasonable fee and use the proceeds for our scholarship fund. Lou asked, “Are we interested?”
This item is being reviewed for possible action by the SAWJ Executive Committee. More information concerning this recommendation will be available soon.
OLD BUSINESS
President Bill reported that the required information has been sent to the State Board concerning PDH’s for our past meetings. Certificates have been distributed for those meetings that we have received their approval. We still await their response on some meetings. More information will be provided soon.
NEW BUSINESS
President Bill announced that NJSPLS has requested information for an article to be published in their Coordinate Magazine. They request the information before August 30, 2009. President Bill said that he would respond to them with the requested information.
Chuck Robbins won tonight’s 50-50 drawing. He contributed his winnings to the Scholarship Fund.
President Bill said that our next meeting will be on Thursday September 10, 2009, 7PM, at Carlucci’s.
At 8:55 PM. It was moved to adjourn the meeting; seconded, and approved by voice vote.
